We know that if we are authenticated and we land on our app, this will associate the car instance
00:06
with the user ID. However, if we land on the site as a guest and then we go ahead and sign in, what this isn't doing is transferring that created car over to that user.
00:18
So that's what we're going to figure out in this part. OK, so let's go ahead and sign back out. Let's make sure that that's still in there. It has created another one, of course,
00:26
because we have destroyed that session, but we'll get to that later. So let's go ahead and look at what's going to happen here. Let's just make sure we've still got one.
00:34
OK, so when we sign in, where does this come from? Well, because we're using Laravel Breeze, this has created these auth routes. And if we head over to our auth routes,
00:45
we've got this authenticated session. Let's just have a look for it. Controller in here. So let's go ahead and look for this.
00:53
That is what happens when we post through to this. It will call this store method. So when we do sign in, and we hit that store method over in here,
01:02
now's our chance to associate this cart with the user. So we know that we're always going to have a cart instance, so we don't necessarily need to check this in here. So what we're going to do is come over to our cart
01:15
and just remind ourselves what we do when we create this cart. We create the instance, and only if the user has signed in
01:22
do we associate that user. Then we save it, and then we put it in the config. So what we want to do is kind of just do this and this inside of our authenticated session controller.
01:35
Now we don't want to just copy this and put it in there. What we want is maybe a method in here to associate the cart. So let's say associate,
01:44
and let's go ahead and accept a user into here. And let's pretty much just do that over here. We don't need this user check because of course we've already got one,
01:55
and that should be it. But of course what we want to do is just reference this instance this time, like so, because we've already created it at this point,
02:04
and we use this method to access it. Okay, so let's go ahead and see what this looks like inside of our controller. So we can pull in our cart via our cart interface into here,
02:15
and then we can just do this anywhere. So let's do this just down here, and we'll say cart associate, and in here let's go ahead and use the request
02:24
to grab the authenticated user. Okay, let's try it out. So I'm currently over here with this 2B967 cart. Let's sign in and see what happens.
02:35
Okay, so if we come over now and give that a refresh, there we go. We've got exactly the same cart here, but now it has just been associated with that user ID.
